PUBLIC HEARING
FEBRUARY 19, 2002
AGENDA
Notice is hereby given that the Town of Wellton will hold a Public Hearing,
open to the public, on Tuesday, the 19TH day of February, 2002 at 7:00 p.m.
in the Wellton Town Hall Council Chambers, located at 28634 Oakland Avenue,
Wellton, Arizona to discuss community needs and possible projects for which
the Town of Wellton can use federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
funds for projects which will primarily benefit low and moderate income persons,
reduces slums or blight or meets an urgent need, health hazard.
AGENDA ITEMS TO BE DISCUSSED AT THE PUBLIC HEARING
- The identification of housing and community development needs within the
community.
- The estimated amount of CDBG funds available to the applicant from both the
Regional and State Special Project/ACTION Zone in FY 2002 These estimated
amounts are:
- $9,190,625 will be allocated to the Regional Account,
- of which approximately $385,720 is available to the Town of Wellton and
- $1,621,875 from the State Special Projects/ACTION Zone.
- Of the total state allocation, 10% or $1,125,500 must be provided for Colonias,
which are communities within 150 miles of the U.S./Mexico border. These funds
may be part of a Regional Account or a State Special Project account.
- The types of activities that may be funded with CDBG funds and the three CDBG
national objectives.
- The community's previously funded CDBG programs and projects, and the status
of each to include Disclosure Reports if applicable.
- A discussion of the community's complaint and grievance procedure including
information about the contact person, address, phone number/TDD, times for submitting
such and the response time.
- Projects or programs proposed by local elected officials or community staff
for FY 2002 CDBG funding from both the Regional and/or State Special Project
Accounts.
- The opportunity for any person, including those who have requested technical
assistance, to present potential CDBG projects to the public and officials for
funding consideration.
- A request for any other written and verbal comments relating to the community's
housing and community needs, priorities or projects.
Please note that the local elected officials retain the authority to determine
the activity or activities for which the community will submit a CDBG application(s).

available upon 24 hours notice. Alternate formatted materials (Braille, computer
